Bonney Lake Police Locate Juvenile Hit and Run Suspect, Serial Shoplifter Hits Target and City Properties Report Break-ins

The following information from Feb. 25 to March 6 was provided by the Bonney Lake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Feb. 25, 2013

Stolen Vehicle Report: The registered owner of a vehicle that Bonney Lake police had attempted to pursue from an incident on Feb. 20 where speeds hit 95 mph in a 35 mph area reported to police at 3 p.m. that his vehicle was stolen after he'd parked it at the Bonney Lake Park and Ride on Feb. 19 at 5 p.m. When he returned to pick it up on Feb. 22 at 5 p.m., it was missing. He said the vehicle was locked and he had the only key. Police found the vehicle had been impounded by Pierce County Sheriff's Office on Feb. 20 at 5:45 p.m. after it was reported abandoned, from a location that was not the Park and Ride. The investigation remained ongoing.

Property Damage: Police responded to the Ponderosa Booster and Water Tank on 106th Street Court East at 1:40 p.m. for a report that someone had cut the padlock off the gate to the water tower and forced entry onto the staircase that leads to the top of the water tank. Upon inspection, it did not appear city equipment or property was stolen or damaged. The suspect had cut some wiring and electrical boxes from equipment near the water tower that was believed to be owned by a cell phone company. The access to the water supply was secure and still locked.

Vehicle Prowl: Police received a report from a resident on the 18500 block of 104th Street Court East that his truck had been broken into sometime between Feb. 26 at 8 a.m. and about 8:30 a.m. that morning. The driver's side door lock had been punched and a Garmin GPS device was stolen from the glove box.

Theft: Police responded to the Cedar Ridge Retirement Community for a report that a resident was missing $800. The center's manager reported she would also look into whether this was an internal issue. The resident told police she had put the cash in an envelope and put it under her pillow.

Residential Burglary Investigation: Police responded to a home on the 10500 block of 191st Avenue East at 8:34 p.m. for a report of a burglary in progress. A female resident told police she had locked herself and her children in an upstairs bathroom and that a male and female dressed in black clothes and ski masks had entered the home through the garage. Responding officers found no evidence in regards to the burglary but arrested the woman's fiance for obstruction and disorderly conduct after he produced a firearm during the burglary response.

March 2, 2013

Mail Theft: Police responded to the 7400 block of 207th Avenue East at 7:57 a.m. for a report that several mailboxes in the area were open and no mail was inside. The reporting resident said she last checked the mail around 12 p.m. on Feb. 27. At the time of the police report, only one resident had reported a mail theft in this location at this time frame.

Noise/Party Complaint: Police responded to a home on the 8000 block of 211th Avenue East at 10:14 p.m. on reports of a loud, possibly juvenile party. Efforts to contact the occupants inside were unsuccessful until officers began to cite two vehicles that were parked against code outside the home. Two teens responsible for those vehicles met with officers and showed they had not been drinking and left the scene with their respective citations. Officers had to return to the home a second time following new noise complaints and contacted the homeowners with regards to children at the residence before the home was dark and quiet.

March 3, 2013

Hit and Run Suspect Found: Police positively identified and cited a juvenile driver of a pick up truck for her involvement in a hit and run accident the previous night that damaged a fence on the 6000 block of 195th Avenue East. Residue from the collision helped officers locate and identify the truck so they impounded it. The juvenile reported the vehicle missing at about 6 a.m. in the morning. She later admitted to driving too fast and striking the fence.

March 5, 2013

Shoplifting: Police responded to Target for a report of a shoplifting incident that occurred on March 4 at 1:49 p.m. A white male in his late teens or early 20s with dark hair and wearing a large necklace around his neck was seen fleeing the store via its south side emergency doors with a set of Jawbones Speakers in hand. He ran toward 192nd Avenue where he got into a blue sedan that was waiting for him. He was described as wearing a teal and black baseball cap, a black and gray jacket with a white stripe on the front, dark colored shorts and a pair of black combat style boots. Staff report that though he had not previously stolen from the Bonney Lake Target, he had hit nine other Targets in the area.Β 

March 6, 2013

Mail Theft Suspect: Police received a report at 4:24 a.m. that a suspicious man was seen handling mail at mailboxes on 95th Street East at Angeline Road. The suspect was ultimately stopped in Puyallup. He declined to answer police questions; with lack of evidence he was released from the scene. The police report indicates no further reports of mail theft from that area were received and it remained unclear which mailboxes the subject may have gotten into.

Property Damage: Police responded to the city of Bonney Lake's Granger Springs Water Facility on State Route 410 at 10:09 a.m. for a report that someone had cut the perimeter fence that surrounds the pump house located at the water facility. The employee on site reported this happened sometime between 11 a.m. on March 5 and 9 a.m. that morning. There didn't appear to be other signs of damage and the pump house remained secure. The employee also noted beer cans and a fire pit in the vicinity of the pump house that had not been there previously. The fence damage is estimated at about $300.
