Bonney Lake Police: Man Assaulted in Safeway Parking Lot, Intoxicated Woman Rings Up Wrong House, and Panty Thief Strikes Home

The following information from May 19 through May 29 was provided by the Bonney Lake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

May 19, 2013

Assault: Police responded to the Safeway parking lot at 2:53 a.m. for a report that a man had been assaulted. The man had initially tried to flee police but stopped again across the street at the Chevron. He told police he had gone into Safeway at about 2:20 a.m. to buy dog treats and kettle corn. Store employees verify seeing him then without injuries. Shortly after, an employee went into the parking lot to check the ice machine and was approached by the man who was staggering and bleeding from his injuries, asking for help. The man said he didn't remember anything. The police report indicated he was hit in the head by something – possibly a bat or a pipe. There was a black purse in the front passenger seat of his vehicle – he didn't know who it belonged to.

Assault: Police responded to a home on the 19400 block of 67th Street Court East at 6:40 a.m. for a report a man had struck his girlfriend in the head. She told police they had an argument earlier and he'd gotten angry and struck her twice on the head; the officer noted a bump on her head consistent with being struck. He was not at the scene; a citation was issued for fourth-degree assault via the Bonney Lake Municipal Court.

May 21, 2013

Vehicle Prowl: Police received a report at 10 p.m. that a vehicle parked in the driveway of a home on the 19400 block of 67th Street Court East had been prowled sometime between 9 p.m. the previous night at 4 a.m. that morning. The driver's side door appeared to have been pried open, and items stolen include a laptop computer, digital camera, skateboard and pair of Nike tennis shoes.

Warrants/Lying: Police arrested a driver for outstanding warrants issued him citations for driving while license suspended, modified exhaust, no proof of insurance and having expired tabs, and arrested his passenger for outstanding warrants and for obstruction (lying about his identity) after a traffic stop on the 8300 block of Myers Road East at 11:02 p.m.

May 22, 2013

Wrong House: Police responded to an initial report of a prowler on the 7200 block of 205th Avenue East at 3:34 a.m. A woman had reportedly been raising a ruckus trying to get into the home. She told police she wasn't trying to break in but to get into her friend's home. She was also intoxicated. The residents of the home said they did not know who she was and requested police get her home.

DUI/Minors: Police arrested a man for DUI and cited two passengers for minor in possession/consumption of alcohol after receiving a report at 5:31 p.m. that they were seen in a truck in the area of the 6600 block of Vandermark Road throwing beer cans out the window.

May 23, 2013

Drugs Arrest: Police arrested a man for unlawful possession of a controlled substance – heroin, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and third-degree driving while license suspended after receiving a report at 12:28 a.m. there was a suspicious vehicle in the area of the 7500 block of Church Lake Drive East. The officer didn't locate the vehicle there but instead on the 6600 block of Vandermark Road East. The man and a woman admitted to police they were injecting heroin with the officer approached them. The woman was released after she was searched and told police she didn't have drugs with her.

Mailboxes Damaged: Police responded to the 6200 block of 186th Avenue East at 7:30 a.m. for a report that a mailbox was damaged and mail possibly stolen. The responding officers found several mailboxes on 64th Street East were also damaged.

May 24, 2013

Mail Compromised: Police received a report at 11 a.m. that several prescription medications were found near a residence on the 6600 block of Vandermark Road. The officer found the prescriptions belonged to another resident on that road and that they were to be mailed to him, but he never received them. The medication had been on record as being delivered at 11:30 a.m. on May 23.

May 25, 2013

Burglary: Police responded to a residence on the 7600 block of Myers Road East at 9:42 a.m. for a report of a burglary. The break in was believed to have occurred between 4:30 p.m. the previous day and 9:30 a.m. that morning. The garage door had been forced open and two welders were missing from the garage.

May 26, 2013

Shoplifting/Trespass: Police arrested a woman for third degree theft and first degree criminal trespass after responding to a report of shoplifting at Walmart at 3 p.m. The woman was reportedly a repeat offender at Walmart and had previously been trespassed from the store. She had two children with her, who were released to her mother upon her arrest.

May 28, 2013

Bike Found: An employee at Target reported at 10:02 a.m. that a bike had been found in the brush area behind the store. The officer found it had been sanded down and there were no distinguishing marks or stickers on it. It is in police property.

Bike Found: A citizen turned in a bike at about 11 a.m. found at the intersection of S. Tapps Drive East and Maryann Drive East. It is in police property.

Missing Boat: A citizen reported at 6:49 p.m. that his 10-foot, aluminum 1961 Elgin boat was missing from his dock. He wasn't sure when it went missing but indicated it had about 10 inches of water in it from recent rain. It was described as aluminum in color with two blue eyes painted towards the bow. There was also green felt glued to the inside of the vessel, which had a Minkota electric motor attached. It was unclear if it was stolen or if it broke loose from the dock and sank from recent windy weather. Officers were not able to find it after a search of the south end of Lake Tapps from Marine 20.

Panty Thief: Police responded to a home on the 7500 block of 185th Avenue East at 11:43 p.m. for a report of a burglary. The resident told police that someone entered her home via an unlocked back slider between 12 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and viewed a pornographic website on her computer. She then discovered around 11 p.m. that several pairs of underwear were stolen. Officers found no other valuables had been taken from the home.

May 29, 2013

Money Stolen: A citizen reported at about 8 p.m. that his wallet had been stolen while he went to shop at Rite Aid. Store employees notified him his wallet had been recovered, and he reported everything was still there except for about $100 in cash.
