Bonney Lake Police: Marijuana Grow Policies Still Fuzzy, Mailbox Exploded and Flying Rock Shatters Windshield

The following information from July 28 to August 7 was provided by the Bonney Lake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

July 28, 2013

Vehicle Prowl: Police responded to the parking lot at Ben Franklin at 9 a.m. for a report of a vehicle break-in. The victim said a rock had been thrown through her window to gain access. A gym bag was stolen.

Minor in Possession: Police responded to the 18800 block of McGhee Drive East at 6:35 p.m. for a welfare check of a male teen seen passed out. The officer was able to rouse him and found he had been drinking. His parent was called. Charges for minor in possession were being forwarded to Remann Hall.

July 31, 2013

Shoplifting: Police responded to a liquor store on the 19600 block of State Route 410 at 4:42 p.m. for a report of shoplifting. An employee told police up to three people had stolen alcohol from the store on July 21 though it totaled less than $600 which was why it was not reported the day of. Police were called that day because the same suspects returned. Two were described as Pacific Islander in descent – one woman, about age 50 was in a wheelchair while the man was in a white shirt and jeans, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and 140 pounds with cornrows. A possible third white woman with a dark top and pants may have also been with them.

Burglary and Vandalism: Police responded to a church on the 7600 block of Myers Road at 6:23 p.m. for a report of a burglary. A shed on the property that stores gas and gardening equipment had been broken into sometime between 6 p.m. on July 28 and 6 p.m. that day. A chain and lock securing the shed had been cut and a gas can, marked LTCC and full of gas, was stolen.

August 1, 2013

Vehicle Prowl: An officer responded to the 21500 block of State Route 410 East at 4:48 p.m. for a vehicle prowl. The victim reported a window was broken out of his vehicle and a laptop computer was stolen sometime between 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

August 2, 2013

Grow Operation: Police were forwarding a case of a marijuana grow operation on the 19300 block of 75th Street East to city prosecutors for possible charges in light of changes to existing medical marijuana laws but while the city of Bonney Lake still forbade dispensaries and collective gardens. The subjected contacted at the location stated he had current medical marijuana paperwork.

August 3, 2013

Mailbox Explosion: An officer responded to the 18300 block of Bonney Lake Blvd E at 4 a.m. for a report a mailbox was blown up by some sort of explosive. The mailbox was found to be destroyed; a witness said he saw a small red two-door vehicle driving westbound from the scene but no other suspects.

Vehicle Prowls and Vandalism: Police responded to a business on the 21500 block of State Route 410 at 7:51 a.m. for a report that several vehicles on the properly had been broken into a variety of items taken. In all, seven vehicles were entered when the door window was broken and it was unlocked. Items stolen from inside include television sets and a radio.

Vehicle Prowl: A woman reported at 9:15 p.m. that her purse was stolen from her vehicle between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. outside Four Square Church at 21135 State Route 410 E. The vehicle was unlocked.

August 4, 2013

DUI: Police arrested a man for DUI following a traffic stop on the 23400 block of State Route 410 around 2:40 a.m. because the vehicle was drifting.

Bike Found: A pink Mongoose XR75 bicycle was found in front of the AM/PM at 18116 State Route 410 E. Police took possession of the bike and put it in property.

Vehicle Prowl: An officer responded to the Applebees parking lot at 10:46 p.m. for a report of a prowl. The victim said between 9:45 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. someone smashed the front passenger side window of his vehicle and took a Mac Book Pro.

Vehicle Prowl: A citizen reported at 10:55 p.m. that their vehicle that had been parked in the parking lot by Shari’s had been broken into and a purse was stolen. The victim said the theft occurred between 8:30 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. The thief broke the right rear passenger door to gain access.

August 6, 2013

Rock on Roadway: A citizen contacted police about an incident that occurred at about 3:50 a.m. that morning. A driver was eastbound on State Route 410 approaching the Angeline Road overpass when a rock came through the windshield and hit him in the shoulder; he believed he saw it come over the guardrail from the side of the roadway. The rock was more than three inches in diameter and the initial impact gave the driver the impression he’d been shot. The driver had bruising on his right shoulder and cuts from the broken glass.

Suspicious Circumstance: Police responded to the 9700 block of 192nd Avenue East at 9:16 p.m. for a report a man had run through the backyard of a residence and its occupants had been chasing him. He was detained and told police he was running from two men that he owed drug money to; the resident chasing him corroborated seeing a vehicle approach them before leaving the scene when informed police were en route.

August 7, 2013

Feeling Bored? Get Arrested: Officers arrested a man with outstanding warrants after responding to his home on the 7600 block of Myers Road East at 1:15 a.m. for a 911 hang up. He told dispatchers he was bored and had been entering random numbers into his phone, dialing 911 in the process.
