Bonney Lake public information officer Todd Green decided to get his department plugged in as a way to keep the public and media in the know about the latest happenings in town.

“A lot of times in a town our size, officers, (including PIO's) are handling the initial call and we will begin to receive requests from media outlets to provide comments on the in-progress situation,” said Green. “As a police officer first, and a PIO second, it may take some time before we return phone calls as we are working on the initial investigation.”

As of Friday, May 4, Bonney Lake Police have tweeted 6 times – once to inform residents of a stoplight outage on SR 410 and Main Street, another to remind residents that donations are being accepted now for Chief for a Day William Knight.

Bonney Lake’s PIOs and Command Staff will all have access to updating the Twitter feed and will be used to send along press releases and announcements.

“It’s another avenue to reach our community,” said Bonney Lake Police Chief Dana Powers. “This is a way to strengthen our partnership with our community and make sure our eyes and ears out there can help us with cases if possible as well as knowing what type of exciting events we have planned throughout the year.”
