Bonney Lake Police Reports: Lost Elderly Driver Found, Citizen Turns in $95 Recovered in Parking Lot, and $3,000 in Equipment Stolen From City

The following arrest and crime information has been supplied by the Bonney Lake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Jan. 10, 2013

Vehicle Prowl: Police responded to the 19200 block of 65th Street East for a report of a damaged vehicle. The owner reported that at about 6 a.m. she heard her car alarm sound and noticed immediately the drivers side window of her vehicle was shattered. Nothing was taken from the vehicle.

Vandalism: Police responded a residence at 1 p.m. for a report that a vehicle parked in the driveway had been damaged. The residents reported hearing what sounded like drunk people in their driveway at about 2 a.m. and looked out at the time to see no one. At 5 a.m., they found the two side windows smashed out of the passenger side of their vehicle; nothing appeared to be missing from inside. Elderly Assistance: Police were in pursuit of a vehicle initially reportedly as a DUI on westbound State Route 410 and stopped it at 192nd Avenue East at about 8:30 p.m. The 89-year-old driver said he wasn't drunk but was lost and confused. Police contacted his family who had reportedly him missing in Seattle earlier in the day, and were able to pick up him.

Domestic Violence Arrest: Police arrested a woman for fourth-degree assault after responding to a home on the 17600 block of 106th Street East at 10:52 p.m. The woman had reportedly hit and bitten her boyfriend during an argument; both parties corroborated the biting.

Theft: Police responded to city property on the 7100 block of Barkubein Road East at 8:50 a.m. for a report of theft. An employee reported that someone had cut the fence on the south side of the property overnight, drove onto the property and stole seven Flygt sewage pumps and 100 feet of power cable. The equipment was collectively valued at about $3,000 and belong to the city of Bonney Lake. The vehicle's tracks led from the south/east side of the property and through a pasture that ran the fence line before leading out to Barkubein Road.

Vandalism: Police received a report at 4:24 p.m. from a resident on the 19000 block of 68th Street East that a $500 yard lamp had been smashed.

Residential Burglary: Police responded to a home on the 8200 block of 182nd Avenue East at 4:50 p.m. for a report a residential alarm was sounding and found that a front window by the front door had been broken. The homeowner also responded and reported without further investigation at that time that nothing appeared to have been stolen.

Shoplifting: Police cited and released to a parent two juveniles who were seen attempting to steal two bottles of vodka from Walmart at 4:52 p.m.

Marijuana: Police cited a 19-year-old man for unlawful possession of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia after searching him for an arrest for outstanding warrants at the Safeway parking lot at 6:20 p.m.

DUI: Police arrested a man for driving under the influence after a traffic stop on the 18300 block of Main Street at about 11:50 p.m.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered: An officer noted a vehicle parked in the city annex building parking lot at 8720 Main Street at 3 p.m. had been reported stolen out of Kent. The owner was contacted and was able to retrieve the vehicle, which was still in drivable condition with both plates intact.

Attempted Theft: Police responded to Office Depot at 4:01 p.m. for a report that someone had tried to break into a storage locker in the back store room. Two employees reported a man in his 40s about 6 feet tall with brown and gray hair was seen in the back storage room near the locker between 10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. and asked about finding a restroom. One employee reported that at 1:30 p.m., he noticed the hasp on the locker had been cut and the lock removed. It didn't appear anything was taken from the locker. Each employee, however, noted the man was wearing something different: a teal t-shirt and also a purple Washington Huskies hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

Pallets Stolen: Police responded to Target at 10:12 p.m. for a report that $1,450 in pallets were stolen from the back of the store. Video surveillance shows a red-colored full size pick up truck making three separate stops to pick up the pallets: at 6 p.m., at 7:01 p.m. and at 7:42 p.m. The driver was described as a white male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build and wearing a grey sweatshirt and brown pants; a second accomplice who helped the driver during the third stop was described as a white male about 5 feet 9 inches tall wearing a grey sweatshirt and black pants.

DUI: Police arrested a man for driving under the influence after a traffic stop for speeding at the 20900 block of State Route 410 at 2:16 a.m.

Family Argument: Police responded to a domestic situation at a home on the 8300 block of Myers Road East at 11:49 a.m. in which threats were reportedly made. Family witnesses indicated there were no threats but a transport for a mental health evaluation was given by East Pierce Fire and Rescue.

Vandalism: Police responded to a report at 8:09 p.m. that a vehicle which had been parked at the Regal Cinemas had been keyed and three tires slashed. The victim reported she had parked the vehicle on the east side of the theatre at 4:10 p.m. and returned at 6:55 p.m.

Weapons Violation: Police arrested a man for unlawfully discharging a firearm within city limits after responding to the 7400 block of 182nd Avenue East multiple times beginning at about 9:50 p.m. for reports of shots fired. The man later approached police and shared he was the one firing shots at his home initially because he and a friend had an argument over a football game. He later told police that friend was his cat. Officers noted he appeared to be intoxicated. After receiving the man's consent to search his home, they found no other subjects or victims of the shots.

Jan. 14, 2013

Family Argument: Police responded to a verbal domestic dispute at a home on the 9500 block of Angeline Road at 5:57 a.m. and confirmed with subjects and witnesses that no physical altercation took place.

Cash Found: A citizen stopped at the police department at 1:20 p.m. and turned in $95 in cash he had found in the Home Depot parking lot on Jan. 12 between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Vandalism: Police received a report at 7:12 p.m. that a Puget Sound Energy work van that had been parked on the 7700 block of 176th Avenue East had been damaged sometime between 3 a.m. on Jan. 13 and 11 a.m. on Jan. 14. The windshield had been smashed.

DUI: Police arrested a man for eluding, driving under the influence and third degree driving while license suspended after they first responded to a report of a suspicious driver at the Chevron station at 184th Avenue and State Route 410 at 8:58 p.m. Officers pursued the vehicle from the station which later accelerated away from police after they attempted to pull him over. The eluding continued onto eastbound State Route 410 and then onto eastbound South Prairie Road East, past the intersection of 214th Avenue East to 120th Street East where the driver finally stopped and exited the vehicle.
