Bonney Lake Police Reports: Suspect Flees at 95 MPH in 35 MPH Zone, School Property Damaged and Thieves Steal Tip Jar Again

Mail Theft: A resident on the 21500 block of 101st Street East reported to police at 11:36 a.m. that she has not been receiving mail for the last week and as seen her mailbox filled with leaves and candy wrappers. She was not able to indicate what specifically was stolen; the responding officer recommended a locking mailbox.

High Speed Pursuit: Police were involved in the pursuit of a suspect after 4 a.m. leaving the Walmart parking lot and heading east on State Route 410 and then east on South Prairie Road and south on 214th Avenue East without successfully apprehending him. The reporting officer stated he had done a check of the vehicle while it was parked at the store which showed the registered owner as having his license suspended. When the officer observed a man leave the store and get in the car, he signaled the vehicle to pull over but it did not and instead began to flee at speeds up to 95 mph in a 35 mph zone. Police were unable to determine if the suspect in this chase was the registered owner of the vehicle.

Hit and Run: Police cited a 24-year-old man for hit and run and issued him two infractions for no proof of insurance and inattentive driving after responding to State Route 410 at 192nd Avenue East at 2:51 p.m. for a report of an accident. The man had reportedly driven away from the scene and parked the vehicle involved in the accident behind a home on the 10500 block of 191st Avenue Court East before responding officers located him and others who were in the vehicle with him at that location. No serious injuries were reported.

Mail Theft: A resident on the 4900 block of North Island Drive East reported at 3:20 p.m. that someone had stolen two pieces of mail from his mailbox sometime after 6 a.m. on Feb. 18. After realizing it was a holiday, he went back to the mailbox at about 6 p.m. and saw the letters were gone.

Stolen Tip Jar: Police responded to All Spices Thai Restaurant at 8:30 p.m. for a report two men were seen fleeing the store with the tip jar, which the owner reported had about $20 in it that night. Witnesses described the suspect with the tip jar as a slender white male wearing a jacket, hooded sweatshirt and baseball hat with slim blue jeans and black and white sneakers. His accomplice was described as Hispanic wearing a long black jacket and carrying an umbrella, and was stocky. This was the second time in the same month someone stole money from the restaurant's tip jar. A theft of $15 reportedly occurred on Feb. 18; it was unclear if the same suspects were involved.

Feb. 23, 2013

Suspicious Activity: A woman reported that at about 3:30 p.m. she was leaving Grocery Outlet after shopping and returning to her vehicle when a white male approached her from behind her vehicle to tell her she had a flat tire. She instead walked around the front and noted none of her tires were flat. The man then got into a newer maroon Dodge full size pickup, which was driven by another man, and left the scene. The first man was described as about 60, 5 feet 7 inches tall, skinny with gray hair; the driver was about 30 years old and weighing about 300 pounds.

Vehicle Prowl: Police responded to Bonney Lake High School at 3:40 p.m. for a report a vehicle in the parking lot had been broken into an a $1,500 laptop computer was stolen. The victim reported he had parked near the football field and the gym at about 3 p.m. A parent told him at about 3:30 p.m. that a car had been broken into. When he went to his vehicle, he found the rear passenger window smashed out.

Minors and Alcohol: Police arrested, cited and later released to their guardians two juveniles for minor in possession charges after responding to a report of an assault at a home on the 18200 block of 108th Street Court East at 11:15 p.m. The two were reportedly kicked out of a party at that location and responding officers locating the two later, who freely admitted to consuming alcohol. No major injuries were reported.

Feb. 24, 2013

Shoplifting: Police cited a 33-year-old woman for theft after responding to the T-Mobile store at 5:24 p.m. An employee reported seeing the woman take several items and provided account information she had provided to the store, to the police. The responding officer was able to locate the woman who indicated there was a misunderstanding. As the items were reported as stolen, the officer did recover them from her.

School Shed Damaged: Police responded to Mountain View Middle School at 3:11 p.m. for a report that an athletic storage building on the school property had been broken into and some interior damage was done as well. Witnesses indicate that there were no signs the building was compromised as late as Feb. 25 when a soccer game took place at the property. The damage was discovered at 2:40 p.m. on Feb. 26.Β

Residential Burglary: Police received a report at 3:30 p.m. from a resident at a home on the 9500 block of 198th Avenue East that his home had been burglarized sometime after Feb. 23. The suspect(s) appeared to have gained access to the home through an existing broken front window. The victim report a set of four pots and pans along with a bow – no arrows- -were stolen, amounting to about $150 in value total. This was the second time in several weeks that this home was burglarized.
