Bonney Lake Police: Vehicle Stolen from Park and Ride, Agencies Collaborate to Nab DUI Driver and Sex Offender Moves Out

The following information from July 9 to July 22 was provided by the Bonney Lake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

July 9, 2013

Failing to Register: Police were forwarding a charge for failing to register as a sex offender for a man who had previously reported his residence on the 20000 block of 77th Street Court East but when an officer went to verify the address on July 3 found he no longer lived there. An officer verified with the man’s mother they had moved about a month prior and he had been arrested in Fife earlier in the month where he gave an Auburn address as his residence.

Medical Issue: A citizen flagged down an officer on the 18600 block of South Tapps Highway at 5:14 p.m. due to a juvenile who was with her who was trying to walk into traffic. She told the officer she no longer wanted to live. She agreed to go to the hospital for evaluation.

DUI: Police arrested a man for DUI at the Wendy’s drive thru at about 1 a.m. after receiving reports that he had been driving erratically as far back as State Route 18 before getting onto SR 167 and SR 410 en route to Bonney Lake. An East Pierce Fire and Rescue ambulance was following the vehicle all the way into the Wendy’s and reported his location.

Hit and Run: Police responded to the 17800 block of 77th Street East at 5:13 p.m. for a report a silver Dodge Ram pick up truck had backed over a utility box, knocking over two utility pedestals and then sped away.

July 19, 2013

Theft: Police responded to a local business at 11:12 a.m. for a report an employee had stolen a customer’s iPad and some power bars from the gym. The employee had reportedly returned the iPad later, but charges were still being forwarded to the prosecutor.

July 20, 2013

Medical Issue: Police responded to the Walmart at 2:51 a.m. for a report of a suicidal man. He asked to be taken to the hospital for evaluation. A folding box cutter was recovered from his pocket.

Obstruction: Police arrested a man on outstanding warrants and for obstructing a police officer following a traffic stop on the 8500 block of Locust Avenue at 5:02 p.m. The man initially gave a false identity but admitted he was lying.

July 21, 2013

Theft: A citizen reported at 1:46 p.m. that she had accidentally left her iPhone 4 and purse in a shopping cart while shopping at Walmart but the items were missing when she went to retrieve them.

Property Damage: A citizen reported at 7:35 p.m. that there was a dent on a classic car he leaves parked in his driveway that he believes was caused by a newspaper delivery person about two weeks prior.  A case number was provided the citizen for this incident.

July 22, 2013

Vandalism: A citizen reported at 8:16 a.m. that someone had spray-painted a derogatory term on the garage door of her home on the 11400 block of 179th Avenue Court East sometime between 11 p.m. the previous night and 8 a.m. that morning. The cost of clean-up was estimated at about $250.

Prescription Forgery: Police arrested a woman for prescription forgery after responding to the Target store at about 5:30 p.m. for a suspicious prescription called in. The woman was contacted by an officer at the store when she arrived to pick up the prescription shortly after.

Vehicle Stolen: A citizen reported at 6:40 p.m. that his black Toyota truck (WA license B78392U) was stolen from the Bonney Lake Park and Ride between 4:30 a.m. that 5:15 p.m. The owner said the vehicle had two rust spots on the driver’s side bed of the truck just in front of the back wheel. It also had black tube bumpers front and back.
