Bonney Lake Police: Woman Reports 3 Year-Old Son Opens Door for Stranger, Who Flees with her Purse

The following information from Sept. 17 to Sept. 25 was provided by the Bonney Lake Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Sept. 17, 2013

Residential Burglary: A citizen reported at 1:50 p.m. that a strange man entered her home on the 20200 block of Church Lake Drive at about 11 a.m. while she was taking a shower and her three-year-old toddler had opened the door for the man. The toddler told his mother the man took the purse and then left. The man was described as wearing a green shirt or coat.

Drugs and Warrant Arrest: Police took a man into custody on an outstanding felony warrant from Pierce County and for unlawful possession of a controlled substance after responding to a home on the 9400 block of 196th Avenue E at about 6:30 p.m. for a report he was on a property that was not supposed to be occupied at the time. While being searched, officers found heroine in his possession.

Disorderly Conduct: Police arrested a man for an outstanding warrant for disorderly conduct after responding to the Big Foot Java on the 20700 block of State Route 410 at about 11 p.m. for a report he was harassing customers and drinking alcohol in the parking lot. Officers noted he was trespassed from the AM/PM the previous night for similar complaints.

Sept. 20, 2013

Theft: Police cited a man for second-degree vehicle prowl after responding to the Rite Aid at about 12:30 p.m. for a report he had tried to steal items from another citizen’s vehicle but she’d confronted him and took her belongings back. She noted he had several items in his possession that a Rite Aid employee later reported were stolen from the store.  A witness helped to identify him.

Home Burglary: A citizen reported at about 10:30 a.m. that someone entered his home on the 8100 block of 205th Avenue E in the last 50 days and stole several items from the garage including a bicycle, vacuum cleaner, television, tool boxes and tennis rackets.  The officer noted the door jamb was intact but the dead bolt locking mechanism was pried from the door and was not found at the scene.

No Free Booze: Police responded to Fred Meyer at about 6 p.m. on a report a citizen observed a man possibly stealing two bottles of liquor from the store and leaving in a vehicle with known license plate. The officer responded to the address corresponding to the vehicle and located the alcohol. The occupant denied knowing whether or not the liquor was stolen. A friend offered to return to the store and pay for the merchandise. No charged were filed in this case.

Sept. 22, 2013

Theft: A citizen on the 9700 block of 203rd Avenue Court E reported at 10 a.m. that someone had stolen a mountain bike and a motorized trail scooter/mini-bike from his backyard in the last 24 hours.. He had previously had two other mountain bikes stolen in the last week.

Vehicle Prowl: A citizen reported at about 12 p.m. that someone entered his vehicle between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. while it was parked at a lot on the 20100 block of South Prairie Road E and stole several items including a jacket, duffle bag, traffic wands and an orange ski mask.

Illegal Vehicle Lights, Drugs: Police cited a man for using prohibited blue lights on his vehicle and for operating a vehicle without proof of insurance, and then took him into custody on suspicion of unlawful possession of controlled substances after finding heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana along with assorted quantities of cash in his vehicle after a traffic stop on the 7600 block of 194th Avenue E at about 2:30 a.m.

Shoplifting: Police arrested two women for third-degree theft and trespassed them from Walmart after responding to the business at about 2:30 p.m. for a report they’d attempted to steal a large number of items.

Home Burglary: Police responded to a residence on the 20400 block of Church Lake Drive E at about 5:30 p.m. for a report someone broke into the home between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. via the back door and stole several items including jewelry, a laptop computer and a safe. Officers were examining surveillance video of the neighborhood for suspect information.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered: Via a routine records check, an officer found a vehicle reported as stolen that was parked in the Kids County Daycare parking lot at about 11 p.m. The ignition appeared to have been punched and the hood was cold, indicating it had been parked there for a while. The victim, in Tacoma, was notified of the vehicle’s recovery.

Sept. 24, 2013

Delayed Report: A citizen reported the theft of a backpack from the front yard of a home on the 19000 block of 77th Street E that actually occurred sometime in early June. She did not initially report the theft because she wasn’t sure if it was misplaced or stolen. Since then, an attempt was made to forge a check that was contained in the backpack. It was described as a light blue North Face backpack valued at $100.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered: A man was taken into custody for taking a motor vehicle without permission after police responded to the Shell station off SR 410 at 166th Avenue East in Sumner at about 9 a.m. and located the vehicle, following a report the rental vehicle was stolen the day before in Puyallup.
