Car Hits Pedestrian on Sumner-Tapps Highway

A pedestrian was hit by a car today while walking down Sumner-Tapps Highway, and has sustained critical injuries.

Earlier this afternoon we shouted across our social networking channels about a reader who reported a strange accident on Sumner-Tapps Highway.

According to a press release from East Pierce Fire & Rescue, an unidentified woman was seriously injured and transported to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Tacoma after she was hit by a car around 1 p.m.

Apparently, the victim was walking down Sumner-Tapps Highway, near the intersection at Forest Canyon Road East and West Tapps Drive Eastο»Ώ, when she was hit. The driver remained at the scene.

The accident is being investigated by the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.
