Early Morning House Fire in Bonney Lake Deemed 'Suspicious'

A two-story house on the 19000 block of 191st Ave. E. caught on fire about 3:30am this Friday morning and was a total loss with an estimated $160,000 in damages. The fire marshal has deemed this fire 'suspicious.'

At 3:30am this morning, a passerby called 911 to report a house fire on the 19000 block of 191st Ave. E. in Bonney Lake. When firefighters arrived on the scene, the two-story house was fully engulfed in flames. The house was a complete loss and the fire marshal estimates about $160,000 in damage to the property. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and is considered β€˜suspicious’ at this time.

Because the building collapsed from the inside, firefighters were forced to fight the blaze from the exterior, making it a difficult fire to contain. Crews stayed on the scene through the early morning and no injuries were reported. The homeowner was not at home at the time of the blaze but returned in the early morning. He was arrested on the scene for outstanding warrants by Bonney Lake Police.

This wasn’t the first time East Pierce visited this house. In December, they were called there for a report on a car fire, and a week later they responded to a fire inside the home that was quickly extinguished.
