Felony Car Chase Begins, Ends in Bonney Lake Justice Center Parking Lot

On Nov. 9, a potentially dangerous man with felony warrants led police on a chase that began and ended in the Bonney Lake Justice Center parking lot.

A man was arrested Wednesday after he led police on a chase through Bonney Lake to elude arrest for several felony warrants. The pursuit began and ended in the Bonney Lake Justice Center parking lot, also shared with the Pierce County Library.

According to the police report, a corrections officer called BLPD around 2 p.m. to report that the man, who had several felony warrants out of Everett, was sitting in a blue pickup truck outside the Justice Center. The 32 year-old was wanted for felony burglary charges and escaping corrections officers. Dispatch noted he was a violent offender with mental issues and resistant to law enforcement.

Police arrived just as the man began to pull out of the parking lot and he refused to pull over, eluding them for several blocks. He turned eastbound on 188th St. E. and would not slow down -- there were several people in their yards who had to jump back to avoid being hit by him. He drove through someone’s front yard and narrowly missed a fire hydrant.

Police tried to cut him off at the dead end on 188th Ave. E., but the suspect managed to maneuver his vehicle around the patrol car and headed back the way it had come. When the driver reached the intersection of SR 410 and Main Street, the officer managed to do a quick PIT maneuver, hitting the rear driver side of the truck, causing it to spin out.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop in the middle of the road on 90th St. E. in front of the library. Police gave the man commands at gunpoint to get out, but the man calmly lit a cigarette and refused to exit the vehicle.
