Firefighters Go Pink for the Cure

Last month, East Pierce Fire and Rescue firefighters participated in the national "Passionately Pink for the Cure" campaign to bring awareness to cancers that affect women.

Throughout the month of October, East Pierce firefighters and volunteers raised $3,200 for breast cancer awareness month and showed their support by wearing pink uniform shirts while out on duty.

East Pierce Fire and Rescue Local 3520 also raised more than $3,200 at several fundraisers throughout the month, including a successful event at the Bonney Lake Safeway. The proceeds were donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Firefighters across America participated in "Passionately Pink for the Cure," a campaign to promote awareness for women's health issues. Each district could design their own T-shirts. Visit www.iaff.org/Events/Pink2011/contest.asp to vote East Pierce as most "Passionately Pink."
