Human Remains Found Inside Bonney Lake Home of Missing Woman

Mary Mushapaidzi was reported missing by her boyfriend, who is now in custody for investigation of homicide.

When Mary Mushapaidzi, a 42 year-old woman, did not show up for work on Sunday, her boyfriend called Bonney Lake Police to report her missing. That 38 year-old man is now in police custody on suspicion of homicide after investigators found human remains in the couple's home.

Mushapaidzi's boyfriend told police that the last time he saw her was at 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning, when Mushapaidzi left to go running around Inlet Island in Bonney Lake. He filed the report around 11 a.m. that morning. She was described as 5 feet 3 inches tall, 115 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. She was last seen wearing a black shirt and red or pink knee-length running pants.

According to Bonney Lake Police Sergeant Tom Longtine, the couple have two children, ages 2 and 8, who are both in CPS custody at this time. The 8 year-old is the man's biological child, and the 2 year-old is the couple's biological child. The family has lived at their residence on the 4700 block of N. Island Dr. E for either a month or since July, said Longtine. There had been no prior police visits to that residence.

The home is a duplex -- the side the couple shared is now blocked off with crime scene tape. The boyfriend is scheduled to be arraigned on charges in Tacoma on Oct. 11.

Longtine would not comment on what other evidence had been found at the scene, but did say an addendum to the search warrant has been filed and police will begin searching the house again later this afternoon if approved.

KIRO-7 reports that Mushapaidzi is from Zimbabwe and works at Payless Shoes, but Longtine could not confirm that.
