Man Dies After Jumping Off Highway Overpass in Sumner

A 47-year-old Auburn resident died after he jumped off the SR 410 overpass onto Valley Ave. E in Sumner on Thursday.

An Auburn man is dead after jumping off the SR 410 overpass in Sumner, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Police have identified the victim as 47-year-old Todd Kneer.

According to police reports, the man exited his 19-foot-long Plymouth motor home on the right shoulder of westbound SR 410 to northbound SR 167. He jumped off the overpass and landed on Valley Ave. E. to his death, around 11:45 a.m. Thursday.

The cause of this crash is under investigation and it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were involved at this time. Traffic was blocked on Valley Ave. E. near the Old Cannery Furniture Warehouse until about 2:35 p.m. while police investigated the scene.
