Renton Man Struck By Semi Truck Dies On SR 18

The incident closed eastbound SR 18 for more than three and a half hours.

The eastbound lanes of State Route 18 were closed for more than three and a half hours Monday afternoon after a Renton man laid down in front of oncoming traffic.

The man, identified as 42-year-old Oleg P. Voznyuk of Renton, was struck by a Kenworth Tractor Towing Trailer at half past the noon hour. He died at the scene.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Voznyuk parked a 1993 silver Camry on the shoulder, got out and laid down in the nearest traffic lane before being struck by the semi truck. It's unknown if drugs or alcohol played a part in this event.

The accident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.

Ah, so sad for everyone, but especially for that poor truck driver. I sure hope he doesn't blame himself.

This is so sad, for the truck driver, whom I pray will not put blame on himself, the family of the man who died, and the man who died. May God bless them all

yes I was the first driver he got in front of and it was all I could do not to hit him. the other line was open so some how I was able to get around him and call 911 and report it. I dont know way he filt the need to end his life and I fill really bad for his family. but it will take me soom time to get over thid. I drive on that part of the hwy each day and all I can see each day is him walking out in front of me. WHY did he need to make use a part of his problems?

I just saw this post and I have to say that we were in a motorcycle per session taking my friend that passed away to the Tahoma National Cemetery and we passed that man. Him and I made eye contact and he smiled at me. I do not know what was in his head at that time. He looked like he was pretty well off. I do feel grateful that he waited till we passed. We had about 40 motorcycle that day. I hope the family has found peace through that and that the trucker that hit him knows that it was not his fault.

Three years ago someone with the same name, Oleg P Voznyuk, had sent me a message asking for help and some money. That was on a Russian version of "Facebook" "moi Mir" - "my World". He wrote that he had lost his left leg in a 2007 car accident. After that accident, he said, his wife took the children and moved to Chicago area leaving him alone. All he was asking for was any small amounts that people could afford sending to enable him to collect about $1,500 to pay for his children's RT flight to visit with him during the summer vacation. I assume the message was sent to numerous Russian Americans, as it started "Dear brothers and sisters". He also had attached his address: Oleg P Voznyuk 2762 S 374 th Pl Federal Way WA 98003. The message was written in a very polite tone and in a very good Russian, which is unusual for many Russians in America. I am afraid it was him on that road... I also feel so sorry for that truck driver.
