Update: Second Man Found Dead Following Rollover Accident Near Mount Rainier National Park

East Pierce Fire and Rescue reports the accident occurred in the Evans Creek ORV park Wednesday night with two people involved; one person hiked overnight to Carbonado to get help.

Update: Friday, Nov. 9, 10:25 a.m.

The Tacoma News Tribune reports the 23-year-old man who died following a rollover accident overnight Wednesday was identified as Joseph Michael Castro.


Update: 1:40 p.m.

The second man, a 23-year-old from Auburn, has been found dead, according to Pierce County Sheriff's Det. Ed Troyer.

Troyer said the car went off a cliff in the 38900 block of SR 165. Officials report it rolled 25 times down the hill.


Update: 12:40 p.m.

Crews have located the vehicle off the roadway, up the dirt road to Evans Creek from State Route 165. The second person was not seen in the vehicle and crews were looking for him with help from KIRO 7 Eyewitness News Chopper 7.

Rescuers were en route Thursday morning to the Evans Creek ORV park near Mount Rainier National Park after a report of a rollover accident, according to a Facebook update from East Pierce Fire and Rescue.

Two men were believed to have rolled their vehicle someone last night over an embankment. One man was able to get free and hiked overnight to Carbonado to call for help.

It was unclear what the condition of the other man was who remained in the vehicle.
