Alleged Road Rage Shooting Injures Two Teenagers, Suspect At Large

The Washington State Patrol is asking for public assistance to locate a suspect vehicle involved in a shooting on State Route 167, near State Route 410 around 2 a.m. this morning.

Police are searching for a male suspect driving a black Mazda 6 after a drive-by shooting on State Route 167 around 2 a.m. injured two teenagers, the Washington State Patrol (WSP) reports. No one was seriously injured.

The suspect driver was a white male with dark hair and no facial hair. Anyone with information on this individual is asked to contact WSP Detective Mike Basset at 253-538-3172.

WSP detectives were on the scene investigating southbound SR 167 early Monday afternoon, with one lane blocked off near Sumner. Drivers on SR 167 today should be prepared to experience delays.

Around 2 a.m. on Mon., Aug. 8, the victim and suspect vehicles were driving southbound on SR 167 near SR 410 when the suspect vehicle drove up from behind and passed the victim vehicle in the left inside shoulder of the road, narrowly avoiding a collision. The victim vehicle exited from SR 167 to SR 410 toward Sumner when the driver of the suspect vehicle rolled down the passenger side vehicle and shot a single bullet at the victim vehicle.

The bullet entered the victim car in the left rear passenger side door and struck an 18 year-old male passenger in the forearm. The bullet continued through the right front passenger seat and struck the 17 year-old female driver in the back.

The suspect vehicle is a newer model Mazda 6, most likely in the 2009-2011 range.

Both teenagers were treated and later released at a local hospital and neither suffered major injuries.
