Sumner Food Center Robbed, Police Searching for Suspect

The Sumner Food Center was robbed at gunpoint on Monday, Dec. 5. There were no injuries but police are searching for a suspect.

Sumner Police are searching for a man in connection to a robbery at on Dec. 5.

It was near closing and the store owner was alone when a man entered the store and pulled out a black, eight-inch semi-automatic handgun. He calmly asked the owner to open the cash register and give him the money inside. The suspect stuffed the bills in his pocket and ordered the owner to lie face down on the ground while he made his escape. He got away with approximately $200 in cash. The store owner was not injured during the confrontation.

The suspect is described as white, in his 30s or 40s and wearing dark, plain clothing, a hoodie over his head and a scarf over his mouth.
