Sumner Police: One Arrested in Strong-Arm Robbery, Community Center Burglarized and Vehicle Prowled in School Lot

The following information from March 28 through April 3 was provided by the Sumner Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

March 28, 2013

Burglary: Staff at the Sumner Community Center (1110 Fryar Avenue) reported to police at 9:10 a.m. that their office had been burglarized sometime between 8 p.m. the previous night and 6:55 a.m. that morning. Nothing appeared to have been missing but two door knobs were damaged.

Vehicle Stolen, Recovered: Police initially responded to the Sumner Fred Meyer parking lot at 10:45 p.m. for a report of a stolen vehicle. The victim said she’d parked in the east side of the building at 4 p.m. and when she returned at 10:45 p.m., it was gone.  On April 1, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office reported the vehicle was recovered in the 15500 block of 96th Street East; both plates were attached and it looked to be drivable. The victim later reported to police several items inside the vehicle didn’t belong to her; there was some indication they might belong to a residential burglary victim from March 28.
