Hit and run

8:20am: An officer responded to the 1300 block of Zehnder St. for a report of a hit and run. The officer arrived on scene and contacted the reporting party, who said a vehicle had run into the side of his building. He said that the vehicle he suspects hit his building is parked down the street and that the vehicle often speeds and is driven recklessly in the area. As the officer was looking around, he located two tire tracks with a distinct tread pattern in the mud from the suspect vehicle. There was also a trail of chunks of mud leading right to the vehicle that was suspected to have hit the building.

The officer went to see the suspect vehicle and noticed that it had severe front-end damage and that the tires on the vehicle matched the tread mark found in the mud. The officer tried to contact the owner of the truck at the residence but nobody answered the door. A couple of days later, the owner of the truck called and left a message. The phone call was returned and the owner advised that he was not driving, he loaned his vehicle to a friend, and he had contacted the victim and agreed to pay for the damage.
