Malicious Mischief, Warrant Arrest

An officer responded to Prosperity House at 1723 Bonney Ave. for a report of people throwing rocks at the windows. The subjects were in an apartment building next door and had been throwing pennies, masking tape rolls and plastic lids at the building.

There was a group of people on an upstairs deck who ran into an apartment and turned off all the lights when police arrived. The apartment manager told police the apartment was vacant but he was letting a group of young men stay there for the night. Upon entering, police noticed several open and unopened beer cans on the kitchen counter. Two males were sitting on the couch and said they were alone, but police found two more men hiding in a storage unit and in the bedroom.

The men were all about 23 years old except for one, who was 20 and officers smelled alcohol on his breath. He also had warrants out for his arrest for theft in Sumner. Another one of the men had a warrant in Sumner for vehicle prowling and police found a marijuana pipe in his pocket. The two were arrested for their warrants.

The apartment manager was very upset and yelled at the young men, saying he told them not to invite anyone over who weren’t 21.

Stolen Items from Public Restroom

Officers arrived at the Sumner public restroom at 1122 Main St. for a report of theft. A city employee told police he went into the restroom and discovered the stainless steel toilet seat cover dispenser and toilet paper dispenser had been stolen. He said the items were securely mounted to the walls and he wasn’t sure how someone was able to steal them.

Police took the report and the man installed plastic replacements, not stainless steel.

Stolen Purse, Identity Theft

A woman reported that someone stole her purse from her vehicle while she was dropping off her daughter at her parents’ house on the 1800 block of Meade McCumber.

She said she noticed a purple sports car in the area that seemed suspicious. She left her car running for a moment while she took her daughter in the house and came back to find large wet footprints around her car and her purse gone.

When she reported her cards as stolen, the bank notified her that someone had used one of her debit cards to get gas at the Fred Meyer and then used it to withdraw cash at the ATM.

Police were able to identify a suspect from camera footage and are currently investigating this case.

Hit and Run

Officers were dispatched to a hit and run collision at 419 Valley Ave. The caller reported she heard a loud bang and observed a black SUV fleeing the area. Police saw a Ford pickup diagonally in the driveway that appeared to have been hit while legally parked on the street.

Police began searching the area for a black SUV with front end damage and found a black Toyota on the 6400 block of 155th Ave. about two hours later with significant front end damage. It appeared both airbags had deployed in the car.

Outside the car on the street was a woman’s purse, high heeled shoes and another bag with a wallet in it.

The 33 year-old woman in the license was only 5 foot 3 inches, and police noticed the drivers side of the vehicle was pulled up close to accommodate someone that short. They also found makeup on the drivers side airbag.

They called the registered owner of the car, who said he and his wife had separated and she currently had possession of it. They both resided in Auburn.

Police attempted to find the woman in the area and searched the local hospitals. They are currently in the process of tracking her down for questioning.
