THREATS, TIRE SLASHING

A man reported to police he was assaulted at his work by people he knew. One of them was his ex-roommate.

The man told police he was getting off work and found his car tire was flat. He moved away from the door to look at it, and then the two men came up on him from behind. They shoved him into his car, grabbed him by the neck and threatened him to pay his rent money or they would “jack him up” until he pays.

A coworker witnessed them by the car and asked if everything was ok. The victim’s old roommate then offered to help the man fix his car, like nothing had happened. He told them to leave.

The victim insisted that he didn’t owe the man any money and that he was harassing him for no reason.

ONE-CAR ROLLOVER ACCIDENT

Police were dispatched to the 1400 block of Puyallup St near Northwest Baking Co. for a report of a one-car rollover. The witness said there was a man outside the vehicle and he appeared intoxicated. He said he also saw someone else who walked away from the scene.

Police observed the vehicle upside down and on top of a tree that was now lying on the sidewalk. The car was totaled.

Police caught up with the 23 year-old man on Fryer Ave. but he said his friend was driving and he ran away. The car belonged to his parents, who told police he got mad at them and took the keys to their car and drove off. The man admitted to drinking three beers and a shot, but said, “I’m OK to drive.”

He told police that earlier in the night he drove the car to the Ampm and met the man there. He had never seen the man before but gave him his car keys after the man offered to drive him home. The man said the guy drove too fast and ended up flipping the car.

The man gave two different descriptions of the unknown driver and changed his story and said he met the man at a bar. He refused to take a sobriety test so was issued a DUI and cited for malicious mischief. Damage to the tree totaled over $400.
