DUI: At approximately 1:35 a.m. an officer conducting traffic enforcement on 64th St. saw a Dodge Durango exit the 410 Plaza, turn sharply to the left and accelerate rapidly. The officer pulled the car over and the 26 year-old male driver said he was only driving because he had an altercation with some guys at the bar and wanted to get his girlfriend out of the area. At that time, a taxi slowed alongside his vehicle and a subject inside started to laugh and yelled to the officer that the driver was really drunk. The officer smelled intoxicants. The man admitted he shouldn’t be driving and had a suspended license. The officer reminded him that he could have called 9-1-1 and they would have called him a cab. He was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

DUI: An officer running radar on the 16600 block of 64th St. in Sumner around 10 p.m. clocked a vehicle traveling at 54 mph in a 25 mph zone. The officer pulled the car over and found the driver holding his license out the window. The officer could smell intoxicants. The 26-year-old driver didn’t have an insurance card. During his arrest, the suspect kept mumbling about how his Law Enforcement Memorial license plates didn’t help him, and he should get a badge sticker on his vehicle. His BAC was almost double the legal limit.

DUI: At about 1 a.m., an officer working traffic enforcement on 64th St. saw a black jeep weave in and out of traffic as it exited the 410 Plaza. The vehicle was caked in mud to the point that the officer was unable to see inside the vehicle from the side. The 29-year-old female driver said she didn’t have her ID, that she was really close to home and that “the back roads were fine.” The officer pointed out that she was driving in an inappropriate manner. He also smelled intoxicants. She said she had been at Schafer’s Bar and Grill with her boyfriend and they had been out “jeeping” earlier in the day. She said they did roll the Jeep, but it didn’t affect how it drove. She was arrested for DUI, improper lane use, no license and no insurance. Her BAC was over double the legal limit.

Burglary: An officer responded to the Kincaide Apartments on Parker Road at 8 a.m. for a possible burglary. The manager of the senior housing unit said he found his office in disarray and papers were scattered all over the floor. It appeared as if someone rummaged through the property. Estimated damage caused by a pipe wrench to the door was $100. The only thing found missing was $5 from a cash box. He reported that during the prior evening, the hallway ceiling light covers were taken off and the light bulbs had been unscrewed.

Theft: A Sumner officer responded to Sumner Appliance for a theft report. The manager showed the officer surveillance footage that captured a Chevy van arriving in the alley. The driver, a white male with heavy build, ponytail and arm tattoo walked to the south side of the building and began putting various metal pieces and a dishwasher into his van. There have been an increasing number of thefts there recently, the manager said.
