Kids with Guns

A man called 911 and reported that he saw a black mustang in front of his house on the 1300 block of Rainier St. with a man inside it, pointing a gun at a passenger and ordering him out of the car. The car had since moved across the street into a neighbor’s driveway.

With weapons drawn, Sumner police advanced on the car and took three 15 year-old boys into custody. The guns ended up being airsoft weapons identical to Barretta and Colt models. The boys were all dressed in police costumes, with paper badges and holsters on their hips. One of the boys had a walkie-talkie in his back pocket.

The three told police they were making a movie about Seattle PD on patrol and did a scene in the car, and turned it around for a better effect. One of their fathers came out of the house and confirmed their story.

The officers returned the guns and left the scene.

DUI

Officers were conducting stationary traffic enforcement on the 15500 block of Main St. when they observed a white pickup turn south on Parker Rd. and fail to stop at a stop sign.

The 23 year-old man told the officers he lived nearby and was headed home. He smelled of alcohol and his eyes were bloodshot. When police asked him to step out of the car to perform a field sobriety test, the man quickly turned and ran away. Police chased him into an apartment complex and he dove into some bushes. Eventually he surrendered after being threatened with a taser.

He had no injuries and claimed that he is an athlete, and he thought he would be able to outrun police because of it.

The man blew a .172 BAC and was arrested for DUI and obstructing justice.

Possession of Marijunana

Officers observed a red Honda with four subjects and an unoccupied Toyota pickup parked off the roadway in the 14400 block of 24th St. It is a section of roadway that is not a normal traffic route and there have been recent fuel thefts to the nearby golf course buildings.

When the 18 year-old driver rolled down his window, the officer immediately smelled marijuana. The driver said that the group had just pulled over to talk and help out the driver of the Toyota. He had run out of gas and they were bringing him fuel.

They handed over the marijuana and two glass pipes. Two men arrested were 18 years old; the other was 15.

They were all cited with possession of marijuana.

Negligent Driving

A man called 911 to report that his red Ford Mustang had just hit a light pole on the 14300 block of 16th St. He said he was a passenger at the time and his friend was the driver and no one was injured.

Police found the car over the south side of the curb, resting on the lower half of the light pole, which had been knocked over. The light pole, owned by the city of Sumner, had suffered approximately $5,000 in damage.

The man said that he and his friend had just fixed the carburetor and they decided to take it out to see if it was working. He had let his friend drive his car and as they were turning, the carburetor stuck and they hit the pole. He had just bought the Mustang about a week earlier.

Officers noticed a “donut” pattern in the concrete and it seemed that the car had been going well over the posted speed limit of 25 mph.

The man felt sorry for hitting the car into the pole. He was cited with negligent driving and the Mustang was towed back to the residence. PSE and the city were contacted to fix the pole.
