The man said he arrived home from work and was eating dinner when he got into a fight with his girlfriend over the bills. The argument escalated and she hit him in the face, spit at him and threw a pan of water on him.

The 24 year-old woman has two small girls from previous relationships who share the apartment and she is 8 months pregnant with his child.

The woman was visibly upset and crying. She said that they got in the argument after he accused her of cheating on him. He started to call her names and she asked him to leave and went into the kitchen with her kid. The man followed her and continued to call her names, and at that point she grabbed a pot full of water and threw it at him.

She said after she cleaned up the spilled water, the arguing continued. She was holding her child when he walked up to her and she said she must have gone into “mommy mode” and slapped him in the face and spit at him.

The woman was arrested for domestic violence, fourth degree. Officers agreed not to handcuff her in front of her children but would wait for her father to arrive and do it outside the apartment.

While doing paperwork at the station, the woman told officers she was surprised her boyfriend was allowed to stay in the apartment, since he was a convicted felon and there were two guns in the master bedroom. She was concerned that he would take them or do something with them, and they were important to her and her father.

An officer was still with her boyfriend at the apartment and arrested the man for felony possession of a firearm and the two weapons were taken into police custody.

When police questioned the man about the guns, he denied knowing they were there. The officer told him he did not believe him, because the guns were in clear view and directly next to his clothing. He said he doesn’t wear that clothing and only wears the clothes that were on the floor.

The officer said he found his story hard to believe and then the man denied living in the apartment at all. At that point, the officer stopped talking to him.

TEEN BEER PONG PARTY

Officers were dispatched to a residence on the 14400 block of 74th St. E. for a report of some juveniles witnessed carrying a 6-pack of beer into a home. There was a sheet covering the dining room window, but there were enough gaps in it that the officer could see the table was set up for beer pong.

The officer knocked on the door and heard footsteps scurrying about inside. A 19 year-old man lived there with his mother, whom officers were familiar with. No one answered the door when police knocked and officers called his mother.

His mother wasn’t home and told officers she would talk to her son and call them back. She was unwilling to let the officers enter her house. She wanted to speak to her attorney first and then told the officers her son assured her that no one would be leaving the house and they were all staying the night. The officer explained that even so, it was a potential liability for her, the city and her son if someone under 21 left the party, drove home and got in an accident. She then said her son would be staying inside and would not open up the residence.

Officers obtained a warrant, which they showed the 19 year-old through the window. He opened the door and four other people came downstairs to get the officers. All but one were under 21. The cans and bottles the officer saw through the window had been thrown in the garbage can and there were numerous other cans in the man’s bedroom.

One of the teens was cited with MIP and realized. The teen who lived there and another man were arrested for furnishing liquor to minors.

STOLEN MATTRESSES

Officers arrived at Sound Sleep Products on Puyallup St. for a report of a motor vehicle theft. Someone stole a truck with 20 full-sized mattresses inside. The car’s GPS was working and was located on the 8100 block of 206th Ave. E. in Bonney Lake. Bonney Lake Police advised that the vehicle was abandoned and empty.

The mattresses were valued at over $6,000. They were scheduled to go to the Tacoma shipping yards that day for shipment to Alaska.

The King County Auto Theft Taskforce was contacted and the van was impounded for evidence.
