Sumner Police: Fire Set at Skate Park

The following information from August 1 to August 5 was provided by the Sumner Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

August 1, 2013

Domestic Incident: A man was to be cited by mail for fourth-degree assault domestic violence stemming from an incident that officers responded to at a home on the 15800 block of Elm Street at about 12:20 a.m. He had reportedly pushed his female partner during a fight and also damaged property.

Burning Bowl: Police charged one man with reckless burning and trespassed him along with a second minor from the skate park at the sports complex at 5604 Graham Avenue after responding to that location at about 1:40 a.m. for what appeared to be a fire on police security cameras. The responding officer noted a fire had been set in the bowl section of the skate park where the two males remained. East Pierce Fire responded and opted to let the fire, started with magazines and other paper products, burn out. Charges for reckless burning were being forwarded to Remann Hall for the juvenile.

Attempted Burglary: Police received a report at about 11 a.m. that someone had cut a hole in the fence of a business on the 1400 block of East Valley Highway in what looked to be an attempted burglary as nothing appeared to have been taken. The damage was believed to have occurred between 4 p.m. the previous day at 9:30 a.m. that morning.

August 5, 2013

Vehicle Prowl: A citizen reported from a park and ride lot on the 1100 block of Maple Street that someone entered his vehicle and stole a tool box worth about $500. He had been parked there since about 4:50 a.m. that morning and discovered the box was missing at 8 p.m. There were no signs of forced entry as he believed his key fob didn’t lock the vehicle properly.Β
