Sumner Police: Man Threatens Business Patrons with Gun, Juvenile Arrested for Striking Dad and Thieves Steel 1,000 lb of Scrap Steel Worth $50

The following information for March 7 through March 13 was provided by the Sumner Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

March 7, 2013

Commercial Burglary: Police responded to Dayton Superior on the 13600 block of 52nd Street Court East at 12:34 a.m. for a report of an interrupted burglary. The reporting party told dispatchers they were following two men in pick up truck on West Valley Highway but lost sight of them after they got onto northbound State Route 167. Officers responded to the property and found a gate to the fenced area on the side of building was open and the locking mechanism of the gate was unbolted and removed. The manager told police on March 11 that about 1,000 pounds of steel parts were taken from the year. He guessed they would be worth about $50 if recycled. The pick up reportedly had a broken passenger side window and was described as a blue Ford Courier pick up truck.

Workplace Assault: Police cited a man for fourth degree assault after following up on a report he struck a fellow employee at Menke Lumber in Sumner. The man was subsequently terminated from the job.

Skate Park Fight: Police responded to the skate park at 5604 Graham Avenue at 4:49 p.m. for a report of a juvenile fight. No serious injuries were reported and charges were being forwarded to Remann Hall for fourth-degree assault on one of the three juveniles involved. That juvenile was also trespassed from the park for 45 days.

Domestic Violence: Police responded to an incident on the 16200 block of 64th Street East for a report a woman had struck her husband, kicked a hole in a door and left the residence. The husband reported they had been arguing recently. Police issued citations for fourth-degree assault domestic violence and third degree malicious mischief to be mailed.

Domestic Violence: Police arrested a juvenile for fourth-degree assault domestic violence after responding to the 1600 block of Main Street at 9:21 p.m for a report he and his father were in a physical fight that began over an argument about skipping school. The juvenile later told police about his role in property damage at Fred Meyer on March 5 and he admitted he’d probably done half of the total damage.

Threats and Disorderly Conduct: Police responded to Bottomz Up Bar & Grill on the 1000 block of Main Street at 11:20 p.m. for a report of a man who threatened to shoot others with a gun before fleeing the business with a female. The female was located first and was not cooperative with police. When her mother arrived to pick her up, police noted the suspect was also in the vehicle. He had refused to exit the vehicle and was removed by force and continued to not cooperate with officers up to his arrival in jail. He faced charges of third degree felony harassment, malicious mischief and resisting arrest.
