Sumner Police: Man Upset Over Ex-Girlfriend Reports Fake Crime and Teen Assaults Mother's Boyfriend

The following information from July 28 through July 30 was provided by the Sumner Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

July 28, 2013

Reporting False Crime: Poilce arrested a man for false reporting after initially responding to a 911 call at 5:46 a.m. from the 5600 block of Graham Avenue where the man reported he'd just been robbed at gun point. He had hung up on police dispatchers and was no longer at the scene when officers arrived. Witnesses in the area pinned him as the one causing a disturbance over an ex-girlfriend. The officer located the man later who admitted to reporting a false robbery because he didn't know how else to get in touch with police.

July 29, 2013

Burglary: Officers received a report from a business on the 16600 block of 64th Street East at 11:31 a.m. that someone had broken into the fenced yard and stole a Colman generator and two mowers. A vehicle on the premises was also broken into but it wasn't clear if anything was stolen. The thief cut a large section of fence out to gain access. The crime was believed to have occurred sometime after late Friday, July 27 and 8:30 a.m. that morning.

Assault: Charges for fourth-degree assault were being forwarded to the Juvenile Prosecutor for a minor accused of assaulting his mother's boyfriend. Police responded to their residence on the 14700 block of 78th Street Court East for a a report an assault was in progress. The boy told police he started to argue with his mother over food. When her boyfriend stepped in, he admitted to striking him several times in the face. The boy was not arrested but released to his father after advising police officers the boyfriend was abusive to his mother.
