Sumner Police: Metal Thief Cuts Water Line, Floods Home

The following information from Sept. 20 to Sept. 22 was provided by the Sumner Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Sept. 20, 2013

Stolen Vehicle: Police received a report at about 6 p.m. indicate a Honda was stolen from the 15000 block of Main Street. On Sept. 23, Puyallup Police reported they’d recovered one of the two license plates that belonged to the stolen Honda in the bed of another F250 truck stolen out of Sumner on Sept. 22. The plate was recovered on the 100 block of Todd Road NW in Puyallup.

Domestic Violence: Police arrested a woman for fourth-degree assault domestic violence after responding to a business on the 16200 block of 64th Street East at about 10:30 p.m. The woman had reportedly caused minor injury to her boyfriend, in the form of scratches and cuts, during an argument about whether to leave the business.

Burglary: A citizen reported at 10:52 a.m. that someone had broken into his garage sometime between 6:30 p.m. the previous evening and when he’d called police. Damages were estimated at about $200 though the owner didn’t believe anything was missing or worth reporting.  

Burglary: Police responded to a residence in reference to a burglary that had occurred in the last two weeks. The victim told police he’d heard a sound as he pulled into the driveway and found that whoever had been cutting copper pipes and wiring out of the home had also cut the water line under the house. Water was running under the house at the bottom floor had about one inch of water standing. Public Works responded to shut the water off. Damages were unknown.
