Sumner Police: Multiple Vehicles Burglarized at Dealerships, Teens Burn Plastic and Men Fight Over Girl

July 12, 2013

Reckless Burning: Police responded to Rainier View Park at 6500 Parker Road at 2:11 a.m. for a report two juvenile males were starting small fires in the area. They admitted they were burning plastic utensils in the park. They were warned against doing so and left the area.

Burglary and Drugs: Police responded to a residence on the 2300 block of East Valley Highway at 1:48 p.m. for an activated home alarm. Upon arrival, they found a window open but no one inside. Nearby, they spotted a man who started to jog away after an officer motioned at him. They later made contact with him on the 14800 block of 24th Street East and he was found to have drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine on him. He was arrested for the drug charges and admitted he’d spent the night in an abandoned home, but not the one that police just responded to. Nothing appeared to have been stolen from that home, and the homeowner secured the window.

Vehicles Burglarized: At least four vehicles parked at two different dealerships – Riverside Ford and Jay Lee’s Honda - on Auto Lane were broken into sometime after 7 p.m. on July 13 and several items taken. The vehicles all belonged to existing customers. Noted items taken include a car radio, a .22-caliber handgun along with associated ammunition.

July 15, 2013

Fight: Police responded to the 1400 block of Bonney Avenue at 12:36 a.m. for a report of a fight between two men. The men had separated when police arrived. The fight reportedly started over the perceived treatment of a mutual female friend. One of the two men was bleeding and aid was called but he declined to go the hospital. Neither of the men wanted to press charges.

Vehicle Damaged in Prowl: Police responded to NW Auto Wraps on the 2900 block of 142nd Avenue East at 6:58 a.m. for a report a company vehicle had been prowled and several items stolen. The suspect or suspects had drilled hole in the gas tank to siphon out the gas. They further stole more than $2,500 in equipment from the vehicle and rendered it inoperable by damaging the ignition. The responding officer deemed the vehicle a total loss. It was last seen intact at about 6 p.m. on July 12.
