Attempted Burglary: Police responded to a home near Elm Street at about 4:17 p.m. on an initial report of a vehicle prowl but what was later reported as two subjects seen on a property they weren’t authorized to be on and another subject who had discharged a weapon in response to the intruders who then fled. The suspects were described as both skinny, one wearing a light colored coat and another a dark colored hoodie who fled westbound on Elm Street and who a witness later said was seen running northbound on East Valley Highway and turning eastbound into Creekside development or a field there. Pry marks were found on the door to the property and the property manager later reported they may have entered the home through a window in the garage. It was unclear if anything was taken. Meanwhile, the subject who discharged the weapon had a valid concealed pistol license but admitted he wasn’t threatened when he fired the shot to scare them off, rather than actually target them. Charges for discharging a weapon in city limits might be forthcoming for him.
