Anti-Gay Marriage Group Claims University Place Woman Stole "Reject R-74" Signs

Preserve Marriage Washington's website doesn't name the woman, but it claims she bragged on Facebook that she and an accomplice stole two dozen signs the night of Oct. 25 or Oct. 26.

A anti-gay marriage group is claiming that an unnamed University Place woman stole campaign yard signs that were against Referendum 74, which is on the Nov. 6 ballot.

The website belonging to Preserve Marriage Washington made the claim earlier this week, citing an apparent contest between R-74 supporters to rip out the yard signs.

A gay marriage supporter, whose Facebook page identifies her as living in University Place, bragged on that social media site that she and an accomplice stole two dozen “Reject R-74” signs the night of October 25 or 26, 2012.

She brazenly displayed a photo of the stolen lawn signs, with a caption reading: “Beat that Steph!!! 24 Baby!!!! What do we win aagain [sic]???” Many of her friends congratulated her and cheered her on.

Preserve Marriage Washington doesn't name the woman, but it did say the alleged sign-stealing is hypocritical of gay marriage supporters, who champion tolerance and understanding. It pointed to other recent instances in which R-74 opponents were harrassed by the measure's supporters.

"There is nothing tolerant, fair, or kind about stealing, vandalism, and harassment,” said Chip White, the group's spokesman. “The gay marriage forces have called this a cynical political tactic. Being attacked, harassed, and intimidated isn’t a tactic by our side, but it does show that supporters of gay marriage don’t really mean it when they talk about the importance of tolerance.”

We ask you, Patch users, do the anti-R-74 people have a legitimate complaint, or is this a late election tactic? Tell us in the comments below.

And another "no surprise" is notorious liberal Patch writer Brent Champacno characterizing the victims as an "anti-gay marriage group". Another tactic used by the modern day left. Single out, ridicule, make them sound evil and then move on to the next political enemy. Straight from Sal Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals".

Stephanie, how about you put your "Pro sodomite marriage" sign in a public place and I come by and absolutely disagree with it. So, I don't want that propaganda being read by anyone else so i remove it and burn it in my ginormous burn pile on my property in the middle of nowhere. Would you call it theft? Thats what i thought hypocrite. Face it, you and your fellow liberal pukes are the most close minded, hypocritcal people on the face of the earth.

Notice that it says "lawfully placed" and it's illegal to place unauthorized signs anywhere on the public right of way or utility poles. Most campagns do it anyway, Republicans actually hire people to do it. It's chidish to remove or tip over these signs but not illegal. Anti gay groups inspire angry behavior with their libels, slanders, and hate mongering and I have no sympathy for them at all.

Jim DeBlasio said, "Most campagns do it anyway, Republicans actually hire people to do it." So do Democrats! :-)

Reject r74! there will never be total marriage equality. There are restrictions on marriage. 1. Cannot marry relatives. 2. Cannot marry someone who is married already. Adding gay marriage as equal to traditional marriage will just redefine it as genderless. This is not about equality. It's about redefining marriage.
