Bonney Lake Judge Under the Microscope With Washington State Patrol

The Washington State Patrol is investigating Engel's Towing, owned by Bonney Lake Judge Ron Heslop, for allegedly offering low-cost legal services to property owners who hire the company.

Bonney Lake Judge Ron Heslop was featured on Get Jesse once again, this time for allegedly offering low-cost legal services for property owners who hire his towing company.

King 5 reports that Heslop is being investigated by the Washington State Patrol.

Jesse Jones interviewed two former employees who said they were given contracts by Heslop to offer customers that said his company "will represent you or any of your employees to contest traffic tickets for a fee of $100. If that matter is not excluded from the driving record, there will be no charge. We look forward to serving your downing needs."

At the March 27 regular city council meeting, former councilmember Dan Decker asked the council about the King 5 bit during public comment. He hadn't seen the news segment and had been receiving calls from residents asking him about it.

Mayor Neil Johnson briefly explained the investigation and said that it had little to do with Bonney Lake.

"His companies are located in Puyallup. Bonney Lake is only mentioned because he works here as a judge," said Johnson. "Obviously, we're not happy about that."
