Bonney Lake Voters Say 'No' to MPD

Preliminary results from Pierce County Elections shows voters overwhelmingly stand against the formation of a metropolitan park district.

There's no metropolitan park district coming to Bonney Lake any time soon, it seems.

Preliminary results from Pierce County Elections Tuesday night shortly after polls closed shows that out of a total of 2,616 votes, 2,101 (80.31 percent) stand against the formation of an MPD while voters in favor of it are at 515 (19.69 votes).

With regard to the question of annexing the city of Milton into Pierce County Fire Protection District No. 22 (East Pierce Fire and Rescue), voters in both Milton and the East Pierce service area support the annexation:

City of Milton:

  • Yes: 798 (85.26 percent)
  • No: 138 (14.74 percent)

East Pierce:

  • Yes: 8,967 (86.24 percent)
  • No: 1,431 (13.76 percent)

These are unofficial results. Elections will be certified on May 7.
