Documents Reveal Sumner City Administrator Left Post After Confrontation with Mayor

Diane Supler left her post as city administrator quickly and quietly, but documents uncovered by the Bonney Lake-Sumner Courier Herald reveal some tension between Supler and Sumner Mayor Dave Enslow may be responsible for the split.

Former Sumner city administrator Diane Supler may not have had a good relationship with Mayor Dave Enslow right before her departure, according to an investigative report by the Bonney Lake-Sumner Courier-Herald.

In the week before Supler left her post in April, her labor attorney sent a letter to Enslow stating her desire for a smooth transition out of city government work.

In the letter, Supler's attorney indicates that a "power struggle" may have been at the root of the issue, according to the Courier-Herald:

"[Supler] is aware that you have grown increasingly adamant about your role in the City government and the conflict that your efforts in that regard have caused to occur. In view of the several instances where you have engaged in confrontation with Ms. Supler, she has come to the position that she wishes to engage in an amicable transition from her role in the city government," the letter states. "...It is regrettable that several of your own actions have contributed to this turn of events. From the information I have been provided, it is clear that you have a certain bias concerning Ms. Supler, her role and her activities as the City Administrator."
