Veterans Memorial Drive East Road Renaming Ceremony

The Bonney Lake City Council will hold a Special Meeting for a road renaming ceremony for Veterans Memorial Drive East on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 4:30 p.m.

The project was spearheaded by City Councilmember Mark Hamilton as a way to honor veterans for their dedication and service to our country. The City Council approved Ordinance 1401, renaming this portion of the roadway, on November 22, 2011. The intent of the road renaming is to serve as a reminder to the public of the daily sacrifice of the men and women in military uniform, to add to the City’s local identity, and to build public support for a Veterans Memorial Park.

The portion of Sumner-Buckley Highway East that will be renamed begins at the western end of the road at State Route 410 and ends at the edge of the Bonney Lake City Limits at approximately Angeline Road E. The City will continue to recognize the historical significance of Old Sumner-Buckley Highway by including historical signs at selected intersections.
