Fire Department Honors Leroy Goff
East Pierce Fire and Rescue presented former, long-time councilmember Leroy Goff with an award of appreciation, thanking him for his service.
The East Pierce Fire and Rescue Fire Commissioners presented Leroy Goff with an award of appreciation in recognition of his dedication to the fire service, during a special meeting earlier this month. Goff sat on the Board of Fire Commissioners as the liaison for the City of Sumner since the merger with East Pierce in 2008. Goff left the Sumner City Council after more than a quarter century of public service. The January Commissioner’s meeting was his last on the Board.
In presenting the award to Goff, East Pierce Fire Commissioner Chair Rick Kuss commended Goff for his years of public service, calling him a “gentleman” and a “solid friend of the fire department.”
East Pierce Fire Chief Jerry E. Thorson noted that Goff always had a heart for the fire service. “He was an advocate for the fire department and our relationship with the City of Sumner,” he says. Thorson also says that Goff never forgot who he represented. “He is so well-connected in the community. He was able to be the voice for the citizens of Sumner, ensuring that their needs were heard and met. He will be missed.”
