Monday Is Deadline to Register for Next Month's Primary Election

Online and mail-in options are available through Secretary of State website. There are several key races in Bonney Lake, Sumner and throughout Pierce County.

If you want to vote in this year's Washington state primary and have not yet registered, you should know that the deadline to do so is Monday, July 18.

You can register online or by regular mail at the Washington State Secretary of State website. You can also see if you if you are already registered, in addition to updating your address or changing your name if required.

Races that have three or more candidates will face off in a primary on Aug. 16, with the top two vote-getters on the Nov. 8 general election. Races with only two candidates will not be on the primary ballot.

There are , including city council, school board and fire commissioner, as well as important races in Pierce County.

The deadline to vote in November's general election, if you have never registered or don't register for the primary, is Oct. 10.

If you are not registered in Washington, you can register in person at your County Elections Office until the Monday one week before both election days.
