Murray Trailing Rossi In Pierce County; Other County Races Decided

Auditor, prosecuting attorney will maintain their posts.

Although Patty Murray stretched her lead over Dino Rossi statewide Thursday, Pierce County is still leaning towards the challenger.

According to the latest election numbers released by the Pierce County Auditor's Office, the Democratic U.S. senator trails the Republican challenger by less than 100 votes. Murray has 96,735 votes, or 49 percent, which Rossi has 98,655 votes, a little more than 50 percent.

In other countywide contests, incumbent Julie Anderson will retain her position as county auditor, garnering 78 percent of the vote over challenger Kent Keel.

Incumbent Prosecuting Attorney will also keep his post, as he garnered almost 61 percent of the vote over Bertha Fitzer.

In the race for state Supreme Court, Richard Sanders (88,073 votes)  is beating Charlie Wiggins (71,826 votes).

In District Court, Pos. 2, Claire Sussman maintains a slim lead over Kevin McCann.

The Pierce County Auditor's Office is scheduled to release an updated set of results 5 p.m., Thursday.
