Reminder: Public Hearing Tonight on Declaring Sumner Meadows Golf Course as Surplus

The hearing begins at 6 p.m. in Sumner Council Chambers and is expected to lead into Council's decision on a resolution declaring the property as surplus.

Have something to say about the city of Sumner's decision to sell Sumner Meadows Golf Course?

Though city residents have indicated a desire to see the property sold, based on this question Patch posed to readers, some feel it's a shame to see the potential loss of open space to development.

The city announced in January that it has selected Colliers International as the broker. Tonight's hearing then, is specifically about the declaration of the golf course as surplus to the city's needs so that the sale may move forward.

Colliers was expecting offers to be due in early to mid- March. The city will be able to interview potential buyers, anticipating a buyer selection in mid-April.

Any acceptance of any offer will be done by the City Council.
