Sumner Receives Transportation Improvement Funding for East Valley Highway, White River Trail

The Puget Sound Regional Council recently awarded $336,149 to Sumner for transportation improvements, according to a Pierce County press release.

East Valley Highway and the White River Trail in Sumner will both get a facelift, thanks to action last week by the Puget Sound Regional Council.

“Helping communities secure federal transportation funding is one of the key roles of the PSRC,” said PSRC President, Kitsap County Commissioner Josh Brown in a Pierce County press release. “These projects rose to the top on their merits and can not only deliver improvements for the future, but help grow jobs in the near term.”

Sumner’s East Valley Highway received $95,094 for resurfacing construction and the White River Trail received $241,055, equaling a total of $336,149 in funding.

Sumner was recently awarded $979,000 in trail grant funding from the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) to build a link in the Sumner Urban to Mountain Trail. You can read that article .
