Franciscan Health Facility Breaks Ground in Bonney Lake

Franciscan Health System has begun construction on the Bonney Lake location, located at State Route 410 and 184th Street.

A groundbreaking ceremony Aug. 6 officially signaled the start of construction of the Franciscan Medical Pavilion-Bonney Lake, a state-of-the-art facility that will include family medicine, an urgent care clinic, retail pharmacy and other outpatient Franciscan services when it opens in the spring of 2013.

The Franciscan Health System is developing the 45,000-square-foot medical office building in partnership with Gig Harbor-based Rush Commercial on a 3.2-acre site at State Route 410 and 184th Street in Bonney Lake.

The facility will be home to Franciscan Medical Group primary-care physicians and other professional providers; a Franciscan Prompt Care clinic that will provide appointment-free treatment for minor illnesses and injuries seven days a week; outpatient physical therapy; retail pharmacy; gastrointestinal clinic; outpatient laboratory; diagnostic imaging; and outpatient infusion.

The $26.5 million facility’s innovative design mirrors that of the Franciscan Medical Pavilion-Canyon Road in Puyallup where streamlined, efficient workflow processes allow physicians, nurses and other clinical team members to spend more quality time with their patients.

“The Franciscan Medical Pavilion-Bonney Lake builds upon this patient-centric framework to enhance the total patient-care experience,” said Franciscan Medical Group President and Chief Medical Officer Stephen Spare, MD.

More than 60 Franciscan employees, physicians, members of the Franciscan Patient Advisory Council, and others were involved in a collaborative process of recommending design features for the medical office building. Their goal was to help create efficient staff workflows within a comforting environment that inspires a positive experience for patients.

“The new medical office building reflects our commitment to excellence every day,” said Dr. Spare. “With it, we will begin an exciting era of patient-centered care for residents of Bonney Lake, Sumner and Eastern Pierce County.”

Patients at the Franciscan Medical Pavilion-Bonney Lake can be referred, as necessary, to Franciscan medical specialists in the area or hospitals in nearby Tacoma (St. Joseph Medical Center) or Enumclaw (St. Elizabeth Hospital) depending on their needs.

Those attending the groundbreaking ceremony on Aug. 6 included representatives of Franciscan, Rush, and Sellen Construction Co., general contractor for the project.
