Northstar Chemical History Lesson

What are our choices? If there is a quarter-million gallon chemical tank farm project coming and we, the public, have to solve it, then it's up to You. What are Your Solutions?

History of Northstar Chemical Inc's application begins with the 'application.'

I derived this thought upon my own personal quest into this matter: Vesting in Washington State is a bit antiquated. How is it at all possible that an application and a rather devoid of information Sepa environmental checklist 'vests' an application?

When these publicly available documents are uploaded, I will be curious to know, who thinks it stands up as 'complete?'

That is what 'vested' this project to the zoning in place at the time of purchase and application. This is a sticking point. Yet, Sumner, in it's wisdom, made a Sepa Determination of Significance. This has provided much more disclosure so far than the original MDNS. Yet, this was after accepting the application. Another sticking point! The first question everyone asks upon hearing about the Northstar Chemical plant is, "What? How could that happen?" The answer? Vesting. Concurrency with the public awareness and disclosure laws: Sepa. What an interesting case of both.

Next up: Exhibit A. The original Northstar Distribution Terminal application.

It is almost an emergency, as the fair City leaders have chosen to drill for water there. Our choice seems to be a long drawn out legal battle against any acceptance of this potential threatening project  OR a find a 'buyer.' There are a number of fine selling points for a government to buy it. So you politicians are invited to come and take a look at 1115 Zehnder Street where there is blue gold beneath and a willing seller with a posted 'FOR SALE' sign!

Advertisers, other bloggers, anonymous readers with opinions, any reader with opinions (solutions too!!!), out of towners, visitors, rich people that want to help a historic vinegar plant with some incredible cedar tanks and blue gold... You are ALL WELCOME!

However a rule: Keep your childishness and spitefullness to your self. Dry wit and sarcasm is great, but no straying to nastiness. This is your blog to voice about Northstar Problem so lets focus on making Sumner, WA better and getting rid of it.
