Bonney Lake Graduation Tonight in Puyallup

Sumner seniors will graduate Wednesday.

Graduating Bonney Lake High School seniors will celebrate “Four Years Gone” at Commencement Tuesday night at 6 at the Puyallup Fairgrounds Showplex.

Sumner High School graduates Wednesday night at 7 at the White River Amphitheatre.

“Four Years Gone” is an original song to be performed at the Bonney Lake graduation by Moriah Ianniciello and McKayla Troxell. Another duet, by Maile Gagner and Katelyn McGraw, will sing “I Was Here.”

The high school jazz and wind ensembles and chamber choir also will perform. Class speakers are Zachary Jurjevich-Volin, Kylynn Cook, Andrew Cunningham and Cassandra Neumann. Scholarships and Associate in Arts degrees will be announced prior to diplomas being handed out. Actual diplomas won’t be available untl June 18 at the school.

Senior graduates are reminded a mandatory graduation practice takes place this morning at the showplex at 9:30.

Meanwhile, at Sumner High School, today is the last day for seniors, with the Senior Awards Assembly scheduled.

Wednesday is their big day, starting with a Senior Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at the Commons. Seniors will then get on buses and at 9:30 a.m. go to the White River Amphitheater for graduation practice.

Message from the school

Tuesday, June 12: Graduation practice at Puyallup Fairgrounds Showplex 9:30 a.m. Attendance is mandatory. Caps and gowns should not be worn. Students who do not attend will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony. Students who do not arrive on time will be moved to the back of the seating. Transportation is not provided.

Graduation: Seniors need to arrive at the Showplex no later than 4:30 p.m. at the staging area. Students must dress appropriately. For boys: slacks (Khakis/Dockers OK), dress shirt, nice shoes and socks. For girls: dress, skirt or dressy pants and blouse, and dress shoes or dress sandals may be worn. No athletic /tennis shoes or flipflops allowed. No jeans/denim pants. No sunglasses, flowers or leis, or any type of decoration. Caution: The floor is polished concrete and may be slippery. Please be respectful so that the names of all seniors may be heard. No balloons or silly string.

Only seniors will be allowed in the staging area. Please take pictures earlier or after the ceremony so graduates may get in line promptly and have roll taken. Perler’s Photography will be taking pictures during the ceremony. They will explain picture packages to students during graduation practice.

For parents and guests: Gates will open at 5 p.m. Park in the BLUE lot. You must show your graduation tickets to enter the lot and again at the door when you enter the Showplex. There is no reserved seating. There are specific seating areas for handicapped and hearing-impaired guests.

At about 8 p.m. students who signed up and paid for the “Grad Night” will board buses for this parent-sponsored event. Students attending should have parents/guardians bring them a change of clothes (casual attire). Caps, gowns, and graduation clothing should be sent home with parents. No bags will be allowed on grad night buses.

All other graduates need to make transportation arrangements after the ceremony. There is no overnight parking at the Puyallup Fairgrounds. We will need to clear the building immediately so the facility may be set up for another event. You may greet your seniors outside the exit doors.

June 18 Diplomas will be available in the main office at Bonney Lake High School (all fines must be paid). A photo identification will be required when picking up a diploma. Office hours are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
