Bonney Lake High Remembers Student Who Drowned in Lake Tapps by Decorating School Rock

The large rock in front of the Bonney Lake High School gym has become a memorial to Quentin Boggan, a 16-year-old student who died at Lake Tapps Thursday afternoon just hours after school let out for summer.

After last week, one thing remains clear:

He was loved.

Yesterday, hundreds of friends and community members gathered at Sumner's Calvary Church to remember Boggan and pray; more gathered at Allan Yorke Park , holding candles, to commemorate his memory.

Since his death and subsequent memorials, the Bonney Lake High School rock has been painted in his memory. There are basketballs, University of Oregon fan gear, candles and flowers surrounding it. Heartfelt inscriptions are scribbled in pen all around the rock.

On Monday, there were still pens and markers in a plastic tub next to the rock for students on summer vacation to return and pay their respects.
