Register Now for 18th Annual Bonney Lake-Sumner Community Summit

This year's community summit will feature dialogue on public transit, teen drug use and how the economic downturn is affecting area families.

The theme is ‘Imagine – Together, We Can’ and people from across Sumner and Bonney Lake are ready to come together and discuss important issues facing local residents and children today.

Sumner School District families, local business owners, plus civic and community leaders will attend the summit to gain information on local news and create solutions for tough issues. The free Community Summit is on March 17, St. Patrick's Day. It is hosted at .

Attendees can choose from a selection of breakout session group topics, including the healthy youth survey and other local data, the local Pierce Transit system, positive things to do after school, teen drug use, cyberbullying and how the economic downturn is affecting local families.

The summit begins at 3 p.m. and concludes with a free dinner. Keynote speaker is Dan Comsia, director of Lakewood’s Communities in Schools and the Healthy Marriages/Responsible Fatherhood Program of Pierce County. Dinner events include the Unsung Hero Award, where a person in the community will be honored for their service to the community.

The annual event is sponsored by Sumner/Bonney Lake Area Communities for Families and the Sumner School District’s STARR Program, in addition to other local support agencies and businesses.
