The Sumner School Board will discuss Superintendent Craig Spencer’s evaluation at its meeting starting at 6 Wednesday night at Sumner Middle School.
A couple of other important events will precede the meeting. A ribbon-cutting will take place at 4:45 p.m. at the middle school, followed by a dedication ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Sumner School District teachers and staff who are retiring will then be honored at a reception.
At the regular school board meeting, reports will be given on the closure of the McAlder facility, the alternative high school and student achievement. Audience comments will be given, followed by statements from the superintendent and board members. On the agenda under unfinished business will be the second readings of new instructional and wellness policies.
Under new business, there will be the first readings for an alternative learning experience and adoption of instructional materials. A resolution on the transfer of territory and a change order for Maple Lawn Elementary also are on the agenda. A budget report also is listed.
At the end of the meeting the board will go into executive session to discuss the superintendent’s evaluation and collective bargaining. Board action is anticipated.
Spencer, former assistant superintendent, became interim superintendent about a year ago, taking over for Dr. Gil Mendoza, who still faces charges from the Public Disclosure Commission.
