Sumner School District to Offer Expanded Kindergarten Schedules

The Sumner School District's Early Learning Initiative for the 2013-14 school year includes extended schedule for part-time kindergarten classes and expansion of full-time kindergarten programs.

Beginning September 2013, part-time kindergarten students in the Sumner School District will now attend school all day on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (red kindergarten) OR all day on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (blue kindergarten). The new schedule provides students with additional hours of instruction to learn basic skills for first grade.

The District will offer free full-time kindergarten classes for students in the Daffodil Valley and Liberty Ridge elementary schools for the coming school year. Enrollment in this program is limited to students residing within these school attendance boundaries.

Providing free full-time kindergarten programs at Daffodil Valley and Liberty Ridge elementary schools is part of a multi-year transition to free full-time programs at all District elementary schools. Daffodil Valley and Liberty Ridge elementary schools will no longer offer a part-time (red or blue) kindergarten programs.
