Sumner High School Student in Running for Miss Teen Washington

Samantha Durano, a 15-year-old sophomore at Sumner High School, is in the running for Miss Teen Washington and Most Photogenic.

Being crowned Miss Teen Washington and Miss Teen USA isn’t just about the crown—this year, over $900,000 in scholarships will be given to deserving young women.

This year’s contestants for Miss Teen Washington come from all over the state-- including Sumner!

Samantha Durano is a 15-year-old Sumner High School sophomore and is in the running for Miss Teen USA, as well as Most Photogenic.

According to her press release, Durano is on the volleyball team and is an active artist—she loves sketching, photography and painting. She also likes horseback riding, spending time with her friends and has a special passion for animals (especially cats!)

This year’s pageant will showcase contestants from all across the state of Washington, providing them with nearly $900,000 in prizes, scholarships, cash and life-changing opportunities. The Miss Washington USA and Miss Washington Teen USA pageants will be held this weekend, Oct. 20 – 21 in the Seattle area.

The Miss Teen titleholder (contestants are between 14-18 years old,) will go on to compete for the title of Miss Teen USA and the adult Miss titleholder (contestants between 18-26 years old) will compete live on NBC for the Miss USA title. That winner will then compete for Miss Universe.

I got an email from Samantha's mom - after 2 days of pageant competition, she made into the semi finals as one of the Top 11! This was her first pageant ever. Way to go!
