Sumner Girls Swim Edges Out Clover Park, Eatonville

Sumner girls swim leaves Clover Park and Eatonville in their wake after two successful matches last week.

Strong showings from seniors and promising potential from Sumner’s newest players helped land two victories for Sumner Girls Swim last week.

“There were many good strong races and I'm excited to see such progress with our new swimmers,” said Coach Dana Powers.

Sumner beat Clover Park 134-26 and Eatonville 112-67 last week.

 Madison Munger and Sami Hendricks made State in the 100 free, as well as part of the 200 Medley relay. Alicia Ditty and Ashley Huynh made of the other half of the 200 medley relay. Hendricks made the 50 free State cut.

The best swims of the week came in the 400 free relay.  Lizzie Kressler, Alejandra Castro, McKenna Roberts, and Kallan Gustafson swam an incredible race against Eatonville, edging their relay out by 2 seconds.  Ashleigh Johnson, Jessie Shook, Dani Nasawang, and Kristen Easterly raced hard to a third place finish beating Eatonville by 3 seconds and Sarah Grant, Bailey Jo Lee, Nicole Stoneback, and Carrie Miller took 5th over Eatonville.

This week, Sumner will face Steilacoom and Bonney Lake at home and will face Decatur and Lakes, away.
